Greetings once again!
"The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad." We are looking forward with much anticipation to the things our great God will accomplish in this new year. This could be the time of our Lord's return! What an exciting day in which to live, and serve our wonderful God! In the meantime, while we are watching and waiting for him to come, we have a job to do here. The Lord Jesus Christ has commanded us to occupy till He comes. That implies that there is still work to do. So much work, so many souls that need to hear the Gospel! So many lost people that need salvation! The sad fact is that there is so little time left and so few labourers to work in the white harvest fields. Praise the Lord for freedom to preach and witness! God has blessed me with opportunities to testify and present the work in Guyana.
In many ways, it is a blessing to have the holidays behind us. The last month has been slow since most churches are busy with winding up their tight schedules. No one needed a missionary to come at that time. So, in the meantime, we have been out street preaching in downtown Greenville. We would ask your prayers for the unsaved people on their way to and from their daily errands, that God would melt their cold hearts and warm them up to the Gospel.
With a new year ahead of us, our travel schedule looks like it is starting to pick up. We will be travelling to DeLand, Florida, in a week to attend a Bible Conference at the Bible Baptist Church. In February ( two weeks later ), we will arrive in Arizona where we will be visiting another church as well as helping in a missions effort on an Indian reservation. And then we will be presenting the mission work in the Gospel Light Baptist Church in Salisbury, North Carolina. Please pray:
(1.) that God will give us strength to labor for Him,
(2.) that we would be a blessing to these churches,
(3.) and that our schedule would be filled up with more meetings. Our God is good ALL the time!
Thank you all for praying for us, and supporting us! May God bless you all as you strive to live for Him and serve Him!
In the grace and love of Christ,
December 2009
Dear Praying Friends,
Greetings once again! It is a blessing to be in the service of the King! What a great honor and privilege to preach and witness for the cause of Christ! This is the least that we can do after all that He has done for us. And He has certainly been good to us and blessed us beyond compare -- far more than we deserve. God's love is boundless, and His grace is bountiful. God is good all the time!
Well, I would like to apologize for the delay in sending this latest update. We have been without a computer ever since it was infected with a virus. In attempting to dispose of the nuisance, I accidentally deleted some essential files which took away the file pertaining to the Internet service connection. So I suppose it was my fault in part.
We have just returned from a church in Winston-Salem, which held a Baptist Heritage meeting. God gave me an opportunity to preach and give a testimony, even though I was not scheduled to preach there. Praise the Lord! Currently we are in Greenville, SC, for a few weeks. On this last Sunday, our church entered a float in the Simpsonville Christmas Parade and distributed Gospel tracts to the eager crowds. We ran out of tracts about halfway through. We still have one more parade this Sunday. Please pray that the Word of God would be planted and watered, and that people will receive the Lord Jesus Christ into their hearts as a result! God is able to give the increase!
Thank you for praying for us, and supporting us! May God bless you all as you continue in His service!
In the grace and love of Christ,
Dear
Church Friends & Family,
Greetings from South Carolina! The showers of blessing
have been raining down upon us. The weather has been rainy
and wet, especially tonight.
God has been so good to us these past few weeks! We have
travelled many miles away from our church and home to
visit other churches in other areas. It was our goal to
be a blessing to the pastors and people we visited. But
it turned out that the Lord used them to be a blessing
to us.
One of the highlights of the trip was our visit to the
Spring City Baptist Church in Lebanon, VA. Pastor Scott
Suttle invited us to help in their book publishing house.
What a blessing it was to take part in putting New Testaments
together for the purpose of sending them to other people
in other lands! People who are hungry for the Word of
God! Thank God for the liberty to do that!
Then we visited Burning Bush Baptist Church in Richlands,
VA. It was a small church, established three years ago.
We arrived at the small brick building an hour early and
met with Pastor Sonny Biggs. We had a very good meeting,
after which we stayed at the church late and talked with
the pastor. He told us that they are trying to purchase
a larger building with no success as of yet. Please pray
for them!
As for the amount of support we are receiving, there is
about $700 - 800 coming in each month. The total varies
from month to month. That is almost a third of the amount
that it will take to help us in Guyana.
Our schedule for travel starts again this next week:
1. Sept. 28-30 --- Landmark Baptist Church --- Locust
Grove, GA
2. Oct. 7 --- First Baptist Church ( school chapel service
) --- Conestee, SC
3. Oct. 12-14 --- White Plains Baptist Church --- Mount
Airy, NC
4. Oct. 17-18 --- Grace Bible Baptist Church --- Halls,
TN
5. Oct. 24-25 --- Community Baptist Church --- Oliver
Springs, TN
Personal and/or family matters
Nov.14 --- Jason Woodworth's wedding --- Conestee, SC
Please continue in prayer for us as we travel to these
churches, that the Lord would use us to be a blessing
and an encouragement! May the Lord bless you all!
In the grace and love of Christ,
Buck & Shannon Woodworth
Prov. 3:5-6
Greetings
from across the many miles!
The
Lord is so good to us! And we are so undeserving of all
His blessings and provisions! We just wanted to give you
all a little update about what the Lord is doing in our
lives.
On this past weekend, Shannon and I travelled to Brewton,
AL, to meet with a couple of pastors. As soon as we arrived,
we were invited to go with Bro. Lee Cadenhead and his
family to distribute Gospel tracts at a fireworks gathering
in Crestview, FL. There were 1200 given out to the people
who were parked along the roads. Then I had the opportunity
to preach in the evening at one of the churches on Sunday.
On Tuesday night, two other men besides myself went to
the jail to hold service for the inmates. All of us preached,
after which eight men raised their hands for salvation.
Praise God!
The two churches have taken us on for support, and the
necessary funds to go on the survey trip has been provided.
This is a tremendous blessing! We are looking forward
to arriving in Guyana sometime in August. Some friends
in our church told us where we could find some inexpensive
plane tickets for around six hundred per person. Please
let us know what date would be best for you. I apologize
for such short notice.
Keep looking unto Jesus in the meantime! We love you all!
Sincerely in Christ,
Buck & Shannon Woodworth
Prov. 3:5-6
P.S. We were supposed to meet with Bro. Ray Boltz this
weekend. For the time being, that has been postponed until
further notice.
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!
It would be a blessing to share my testimony of God's
great salvation which He has wrought in my life if it
would benefit others.
God
placed me into a Christian family that was very active
in attending church regularly. The King James Bible was
read and taught in our family. When I was very young,
I remember telling my dad that I did not want to go to
Hell, and that I wanted to be saved. But that was not
when I placed my trust in Jesus. That happened a few years
later. In the meantime, we kept going to church. I learned
more about the love of Jesus Christ for sinners and His
sacrifice on the cross. When the invitation was given
during the close of a Sunday school lesson, I raised my
hand for salvation. But it was not personal because other
children around me were raising their hands also. Of course
I did not want to be the only one to be left out, so I
raised my hand, too.
For a few years I thought I was saved. Then on May 1st,
1994, at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, Pastor Dean Miller
preached a sermon on the Tribulation and the Antichrist.
I was 16 years of age, and it was at that time that I
felt the conviction of the Holy Spirit. I knew that I
was not going to Heaven. So, going forward at the invitation,
I stated my need for assurance. My youth pastor showed
me some Bible verses, and I believed on the Lord Jesus
Christ that day. Now I know that I am saved for all eternity!
(1 John 5:13) Praise the Lord for His wonderful grace!
When I was 27, the Lord led me to the Bible Baptist Church
in DeLand, Florida. It was there that I received extensive
Bible training in the DeLand School of the Bible. During
that time, the opportunity was opened to go on a four-week
mission trip to Guyana, South America, where I met Dean
and Patty Runyon for the first time.
From that time, it was my desire to return to the mission
field. After graduating from a three-year course in Bible
school, Brother Runyon invited me to return to Guyana
to help in the work during their furlough, and such a
blessing it was!
During my time in Florida, I also met Shannon Shepherd,
a Christian young lady from South Carolina. Shannon has
the same desire for the mission field as I do. After four
years, we entered into an engagement to be married on
Saturday, March 14, 2009. It is our desire to return together
to serve the Lord full time in Guyana. Our goal is to
return sometime between June and August, by God's grace.
God has been leading all the way! We know that He will
continue to direct our way.
"Trust
in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine
own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and
he shall direct thy paths."
Proverbs
3:5-6
Please pray for us as we prepare ourselves to undertake
this great privilege and responsibility! God be with you
all till we meet again!
In the grace and love of Christ,
Buck D. Woodworth
